How To Vape CBD [The Complete Guide]
Today, vape products and CBD products are two very hot topics. So, as you can imagine, the combination of both generates much attention. Vaping CBD is relatively new and many people are eager to try it. However, Some people may feel intimidated because they lack the knowledge or experience of vaping CBD properly.
This is no reason to miss out on all the ways CBD may improve your life. Today it’s time to inhale the good stuff and exhale the bad. This guide addresses everything you need to know about how to correctly vape CBD. First, however, let’s see what all this CBD fuss is about and why people choose to vape it as their method of preference.
What Is CBD?
CBD is the shorthand version of Cannabidiol which is a cannabinoid derived from the hemp (cannabis) plant. Cannabinoids, such as CBD, can interact with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) which is endogenous to all mammals and nearly all living creatures.
The main role of the ECS is to modulate the “balance” or “harmony” of various functions within the body. This balancing act creates a state known as homeostasis. The various functions of the ECS may include appetite, pain-sensation, mood, memory, and more.
Using CBD may help boost the ECS and keep it running at peak performance. It may also interact with the ECS if it’s not running properly. One example of these issues is known as a Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency (CECD).
Why Do People Vape CBD?
There are many different ways to get CBD into your body, so why do some people prefer to vape their CBD? The main reason is that vaping CBD is arguably the most effective way to take CBD.
Vaping CBD offers the highest rate of bioavailability and it has the quickest onset of action. This simply means that the vaping method wastes the least CBD and the effects are felt the quickest, in comparison to other CBD products such as tinctures or edibles.
Vaping offers a very convenient and enjoyable way to get your CBD. For ex-smokers, a CBD vape pen may replace cigarettes most effectively. Remember, these are just some of the reasons why people prefer to vape their CBD. Now let’s look at how people vape CBD.
What Are The Different Types Of CBD To Vape?
There are three variations of CBD available. These cater to different consumer needs or preferences. These variations are full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate.

Full-Spectrum CBD
This variety of CBD is said to be the most beneficial because it contains traces of all the natural compounds found in the hemp plant. This way you gain all the properties the plant has to offer. This includes all other beneficial cannabinoids, terpenoids, and flavonoids.
Full-spectrum CBD is the only variation that includes THC; however, the amount cannot legally exceed 0.3%. This amount is not enough to induce intoxication, but it allows the benefits of THC to work synergistically with CBD and the other beneficial elements. This combined effect is known as the “entourage effect”.
Broad-Spectrum CBD
This type of CBD is very similar to full-spectrum, but there is one major difference. Broad-spectrum CBD contains traces of all the elements in the hemp plant minus one–THC. This CBD variety gives you all the properties of the hemp plant without the possibility of intoxication. This is good for people who want to gain the benefits of the plant but do not want THC in their system.
CBD Isolate
Essentially, this is CBD in its purest form. Legal CBD isolate should test between 96% and 99%+ pure CBD. It is white and powdery in appearance. This type of CBD contains only CBD. No other components of the hemp plant are present. This means you do not get the synergistic effects of the combined plant properties.
Each of these variations of CBD can be used to make a CBD vape juice. Once you know what version of juice you want, the next thing to think about is the different types of vaporizers there are and which one appeals to you.
What Do People Vape CBD With?
Currently, there are six different types of vaporizing products on the market that people commonly use to vape CBD. These include:
Disposable CBD Vape Pen (pre-filled)
For some people, these may be the most convenient product to vape CBD with. This is a single-use product (as in you can’t replace, refill, or recharge it). It’s pre-assembled with a built-in battery and coil and has no removable parts. Disposable vape pens resemble cigarettes. They come with a full charge and once you finish the CBD, you simply dispose of it.
Generally, there is no activation button. You simply just inhale the CBD vapors.
CBD Oil Cartridge (pre-filled)
This is another convenient way to vape your CBD. These are pre-filled cylindrical glass cartridges with a built-in mouthpiece and coil. However, you will need to purchase the battery separately and make sure that it is compatible with standard 510 cartridges.
This is the common connection size of most vape cartridges. Using these cartridges will require you to charge the battery. Check out our vast selection of flavors including our CBD OG Kush Vape!
CBD Pods (pre-filled)
These are quite similar to CBD oil cartridges. The difference is the shape. It’s made to fit a different device, one similar to a Juul pod. Juul pods are one of the most popular vapes to date. This makes these pre-filled CBD pods quite convenient if you already have a Juul battery. Just pop a compatible CBD pod in and you’re ready to vape your CBD. It may even suffice as a substitute for nicotine.
Refillable CBD Vape Pens (juice not included)
Using this type of vaping device requires you to purchase a separate CBD vape juice so you can refill the cartridge as needed. Most common CBD starter kits consist of a tube-style battery, an empty vape tank (along with an internal coil), and a charger for the battery.
These can be cost-efficient over time, but they do require some maintenance and maybe some replacement coils from time to time.
Refillable CBD Pods (juice not included)
These are similar in shape to the pre-filled CBD pods. Although these pods come empty and are refillable, you must purchase a separate CBD vape juice to fill or refill the pod. They come in a variety of sizes that are compatible with Juuls and Juul-like devices.
Mod Vaporizers (juice not included)
These are usually the largest and most expensive styles of vape devices. They’re made for the experienced vape user and come in many different styles. Most consist of a battery pack which attaches to a separate vape tank for your CBD vape juice.
These are rechargeable, and most have a display screen which displays the adjustable temperature levels. These will work with CBD vape juices; however, there have been reports that some box mods may operate at high temperatures which can burn the CBD (especially if it’s mixed with MCT oil). So, use with caution.
How To Vape CBD
Ok, so now that we know the different types of CBD vape juices and vaporizers, it’s time to go over the action of vaping CBD. This is pretty straight forward, but for the inexperienced, it can feel like unfamiliar territory. If you already vape nicotine, then vaping flower or CBD oil cartridges will be a simple transition! You can use the vape or battery you already have, or choose to use a separate setup for your CBD.
Depending on what vaping device you are using, the steps may be a little different. The first step is to read the user’s manual that came with your device to ensure proper usage. Disposable vape pens will require no setup. You activate one by simply sucking on the mouthpiece. The other vaping devices may require some setup.

How Much CBD Should You Vape?
Currently, there are no standard dosage guidelines set in place for CBD. However, there are some general recommended guidelines which most people follow. CBD dosage sizing depends on the person’s body weight and the severity of their symptoms. General CBD dosage guidelines suggest 2 strengths of CBD doses which are a regular dose and a strong dose.
How To Calculate A Regular Dose Of CBD
For a regular dose, we suggest using 0.25 milligrams of CBD per pound of bodyweight. For example, say I weigh 140 pounds and I want to take a regular dose. I would multiply my weight by 0.25 (140 x 0.25 = 35) which will give me a dosage size of 35mg of CBD. Use a regular dose for low to moderate symptoms.
How To Calculate A Strong Dose Of CBD
For symptoms ranging from mild to severe, you should take a strong dose. We suggest taking 0.5 milligrams of CBD per pound of bodyweight. So for example, say I weigh 150 pounds and I wish to take a strong dose of CBD. I would multiply my weight by 0.5 (150 x 0.5 = 75) this gives me a dosage size of 75mg of CBD.
Determining your correct dosage size for vaping CBD can take time. This is because it is difficult to determine exactly how much CBD is making it to your system. The volume of CBD one inhales and how long they hold it in for differs widely between users. All these factors can affect the amounts of CBD one intakes.
Check out our interactive CBD dosage chart for more detailed information regarding personal CBD dosage. As mentioned above you want to start “slow and low” and increase the amount until it gives you the effect you want. This is how you find your optimum dose. The effects of CBD can be felt in as little as 30-90 seconds and the effects last between 2-3 hours. If you begin to feel any type of irritation from vaping you should stop especially if the irritation is persistent.
