There are many different forms of CBD out there, and CBD crumble is one of the most concentrated and fast-acting options available today! If you’ve never tried or heard of CBD crumble, don’t worry – we’re going to go over every detail about it: How it’s made, its multiple uses, and why people absolutely love it!
What is CBD Crumble?
CBD crumble is an extremely potent type of CBD concentrate. The name refers to its wax-like consistency that “crumbles” under light pressure. Quality crumble usually ranges in color from shades of tan, orange, and yellow. Its concentration levels can vary but most typically range from 80% to 98% pure CBD!
CBD (cannabidiol) is a non-psychoactive hemp plant extract with numerous therapeutic benefits. Since it doesn’t intoxicate consumers like its cousin, THC, people can enjoy CBD at any time of day.
CBD-rich hemp flower can be smoked to gain its beneficial effects. However, by extracting CBD from hemp, manufacturers are able to create concentrated forms of ultra-beneficial CBD. CBD crumble is one of those creations, and it’s beloved by connoisseurs for its potency.
Is CBD Crumble Legal?
Yes, CBD crumble is entirely legal for adults to consume! According to the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp and its extracts are federally legal as long as they contain 0.3% THC or less. This minimal THC content is insufficient to produce a “high,” but it does enhance the calming effects of CBD.
What Are the Benefits of CBD Crumble?
Crumble is an all natural way to instantly gain the benefits of CBD. Its high potencies can quickly relieve/reduce discomfort from a range of ailments. You can add CBD to your daily routine to encourage overall wellness and balance, or you can use it as needed when soreness, tension, nervousness, and a whole host of other mental and physical discomforts pop up.
Since CBD crumble is so concentrated and potent, a very tiny amount of it delivers rapid, effective relief. Many people use it to alleviate intense physical discomfort, calm overactive minds, and help them fall asleep at night. CBD concentrates like CBD crumble can also help to:
- Improve moods
- Reduce joint stiffness/swelling
- Alleviate temple tension
- Mitigate worried thinking
- Reduce muscle tension
- Aid digestion
- And much more!
How is CBD Crumble Made?
Important Safety Notice: Making CBD crumble and other forms of extracts/concentrates should only be done by professionals. The process is delicate and highly dangerous. This section is to inform you of the process, but please don’t try this at home.
CBD crumble is made using a solvent extraction process; the solvent of choice is typically butane, but propane and ethanol also work. Although CO2 extraction is commonly regarded as the preferred, safest extraction method, using CO2 extraction results in a watery extract, which is how CBD oils are made.
To make the crumble, processors can begin with either freshly harvested hemp flower or “cured nugs” (similar to the hemp flower you see in jars at dispensaries/on our site). The material is then placed in a column of the extraction machine while the solvent is chilled. Then, the solvent flows over the hemp material.
As the solution (CBD/hemp plant extract) separates from the plant material, processors heat the chamber to encourage solvent vaporization. The chamber is then chilled to re-solidify the solvent, and the CBD extract is poured onto a pan. It’s then heated in a vacuum oven to remove all solvent traces. High heat or a whipping process is used to create the crumbly texture/viscosity of CBD crumble. Then, the CBD crumble is packaged and distributed!
Before being sold to customers, reputable CBD brands will send their CBD products to a third-party lab testing facility to ensure the quality and potency. When shopping for CBD crumble, other CBD concentrates, or any CBD products for that matter, always look for brands that do third-party lab testing. The results of those tests should be available on the brand’s website – if they’re not, move on to a brand that provides them (like us!).
How Do You Use CBD Crumble?
Dabbing
A process called “dabbing” is the preferred/most common method of inhaling CBD crumble. Like CBD crumble’s manufacturing process, dabbing is a delicate process that should always be done carefully. But, once you know what you’re doing, dabbing is a highly efficient way of enjoying CBD concentrates.
In order to dab CBD crumble, you’ll need a dab rig with an accommodating “nail” or “banger.” The nail acts like a glass bowl from a bong or water pipe, but it’s made out of highly durable material (quartz, titanium, etc.). Nails need to withstand extreme heat because you’re going to heat them with a torch.
Before you begin heating your nail, however, you’ll want to use a spoon-shaped dab tool to scoop a very tiny amount of the CBD crumble (≈ 1/8 the size of a pea). Remember, CBD concentrates are, as the name suggests, highly concentrated – you only need a tiny amount to gain beneficial effects.
With your scooped CBD crumble set aside, use a butane-powered hand torch to heat your nail until it is glowing (see why it needs to stand up to heat?). Be sure to turn the torch all the way OFF and set it safely aside once the nail is heated. Then wait 10-45 seconds for your nail to cool, depending on the material.
When the nail is at a suitable temperature, place the CBD crumble on it using the dab tool. As you do this, the concentrate will vaporize rapidly, so be ready to inhale through the mouthpiece right away. Inhale as much vapor as you can without causing yourself discomfort, hold it in, exhale, and voila! You dabbed CBD.
Dab Rig Variations
Now, it’s important to note that there are many different types of dab rigs, nails, bangers, torches, and concentrates. Before you purchase or use a dab rig/other dabbing materials, read the instructions carefully. If there are no instructions you can try looking online for them or for something similar.
We also recommend watching video tutorials and maybe having a friend who dabs show you the process. It can be daunting to use a torch, and it’s best to be as safe as possible throughout dabbing.
Concentrate Vaporizer
If heating a nail with a torch is a bit too extreme for you, you can also use a concentrate vaporizer to inhale your CBD crumble. These are different from dry herb vaporizers – do not use concentrate in a dry herb vape. Simply load the chamber, heat, and inhale anytime, anywhere.
Adding to Flower
If you enjoy smoking CBD flower and want to top it off with an extra soothing kick of CBD, you can add CBD crumble to joints, pipes, bongs, and bubblers! When rolling a joint, add a couple of small drops of crumble on top of the ground flower before rolling it up. Do your best to keep the crumble in the middle.
If you want to add concentrate to your bong, bubbler, or pipe, simply add a bit of crumble on top of the flower in the bowl. Light up and smoke from the apparatus as usual, and be prepared for a slightly harsher puff than normal. Whichever flower smoking method you add crumble to, it will enhance the beneficial effects of the CBD.
CBD Crumble Alternatives
If CBD crumble sounds as excellent to you as it does to us, we’ve got good news for you: there are several other kinds of similar CBD concentrates! All of these options can be dabbed, vaporized, eaten, or smoked.
CBD Wax
CBD wax is quite similar to CBD crumble. The main difference is in their texture; crumble CBD will break apart almost like dried blue cheese, while CBD wax is genuinely waxy and malleable. Also, similar to crumble, CBD wax can be vaporized, dabbed, or added to flower for smoking. It can also be added to certain food recipes and eaten.
CBD Distillate
Distillate is an excellent CBD concentrate because it can be dabbed, vaporized, AND mixed into baked goods or drinks. You can also mix CBD distillate into topical products (lotions, salves) for an ultra-soothing self-care experience. Cannabidiol distillate is exceptionally pure, potent, and tasteless/odorless.
CBD Isolate
CBD isolate is thought of as the purest form of cannabidiol – it only contains CBD, having had all other cannabinoids and compounds removed. It’s a white powder form of CBD concentrate that can be dissolved in beverages, sprinkled over food, or vaporized. You can also buy CBD isolate to create your own CBD oils!
Final Thoughts – CBD Crumble
CBD crumble is a truly fantastic way to get the most out of your CBD experience. Its high concentration yields quick, powerfully beneficial effects with just a puff or two. If you need immediate relaxation, relief from discomfort, or just want a super effective experience, we highly recommend CBD crumble.
