CBD Dosage Chart - Additional Dosage Information

CBD dosing is personal to every consumer. Remember, these are general guidelines, not verified medical recommendations. Factors including how much you’ve eaten, drank, slept, and the form of CBD you consume will all affect your CBD experience. Some people do fine with smaller amounts while others take stronger doses than what we have listed.

Can You Overdose or Take Too Much CBD?

No. While it’s possible that taking more than your recommended dose of CBD may cause you to experience unwanted side effects (such as excessive drowsiness or an upset stomach), it is impossible to overdose on CBD.

We have some general dosage guidelines on our CBD dosage page to further assist you with determining your correct dosage. Don’t worry, you will never overdose on CBD. There are no known cases of this happening. A healthy human can take up to 1,500 mg a day without any issues. Keep in mind that CBD works best when it is used regularly. It takes consistent use of CBD to fully benefit from its effects resulting from the interactions in your body.

While CBD is generally well-tolerated, taking it or more than a recommended dose may induce mild side effects, such as:

  • Drowsiness
  • Upset stomach
  • Change in appetite
  • Change in mood

Typically, side effects such as these disappear once the consumer’s body has adjusted to its dosage.

Is CBD Dosage the Same for All Products?

Every CBD product is different. The amount of cannabidiol, the method of consumption, the time it needs to take effect, and how long they last are all subjective from product to product and person to person.

The rule of thumb here is that the longer it takes for effects to be felt, the longer they will last. For example, smoking CBD will give you the desired effects almost immediately, but they won’t last very long. On the other hand, edibles take a while to kick in, but their effects are long-lasting.

Inhalation

Inhaling CBD gives consumers the quickest results. That is because when you inhale CBD, it skips the digestive process involved with edibles, and goes straight from the lungs into the bloodstream. CBD concentrates, such as wax and isolates, have the highest concentrations of cannabidiol. For each of these products, you’ll only need what seems like a minimal amount. CBD flower is not as powerful as wax or isolate, however it still delivers quick results. Different strains of CBD flower or CBD concentrates will contain different levels of cannabidiol, so be sure to read the labels carefully to understand how strong of a product you’re inhaling.

Edibles

Edibles take longer to kick in, but their effects tend to stick around much longer than methods of inhalation. This all ties into something called first-pass metabolism. In this process, CBD edibles must pass through the gastrointestinal tract. This causes the cannabinoid to lose some potency before reaching your bloodstream. Edibles can come in the form of gummies, cookies, lollipops, brownies, and just about any other treat you can imagine. Many times, consumers will simply add CBD oil to a drink or meal.

Sublingual

Sublingual CBD use also skips the digestion process, which means this method delivers very rapid results. Although these effects will be very powerful, they will not last very long. Sublingual cannabidiol use is when a consumer drops CBD oil under their tongue, and allows the liquid to soak and absorb instead of swallowing it. CBD oil is used for sublingual purposes, but CBD isolate can also be taken sublingually.

Topicals

Topical CBD is typically applied to the skin by using creams or transdermal patches, although there are a variety of applications. Since most topicals do not enter the bloodstream they can be used repeatedly throughout the day. Once the sensation begins to dull you can simply reapply some in the area of discomfort. Topical CBD products work pretty rapidly. Consumers can expect to feel soothing effects to start within five to 15 minutes, although, many claim they can feel it instantly.

Dosage Tip

No matter what kind of CBD you want to try, it’s always best to start small and work your way up. You can always consume more, but if you take too much right away, you may feel unwanted side effects that turn you off CBD (such as lightheadedness, nausea, drowsiness, etc.). We always recommend using a CBD dosage chart and starting low for each new CBD product you try.

CBD Legalities

Thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, it’s federally legal to grow and sell hemp and any products made from it, provided they contain 0.3% or less THC. Cannabidiol (CBD), a cannabinoid extracted from the hemp plant, is being studied for its potential wellness benefits. Outside of Epidiolex, which is used for seizures, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not yet approved cannabidiol for widespread medical use. However, experts are continually discovering the potential properties of CBD that may benefit natural wellness.
Which CBD Product Is Right For You?
We make a wide range of CBD products so that way everyone can find something that works and they enjoy. We offer sublingual, smokable, topical, and edible options. Whether you’re new to CBD or an experienced connoisseur looking to try something new, check out our variety of products below to see what each one uniquely offers.

Full-Spectrum CBD Oil

Our CBD oil is a chameleon product; it can easily blend into nearly any drink and food or be taken independently. We only add one thing to our pure CBD oil to make this product: organic hemp seed oil. Rich in Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids, hemp seed oil adds substance, flavor, and nutrients to an otherwise already fantastic compound.

We offer a range of bottle sizes for the different needs of our consumers. People who are new to taking CBD oil (or people who know they have a low tolerance for CBD) can start with our smallest bottle (300 mg total) to try it out. Seasoned CBD oil consumers (or those with a high CBD tolerance) may want to invest in a larger bottle, of which we offer 600 mg, 1,200 mg, and 3,000 mg options. Each bottle has a graduated dropper for easy dosing. After calculating your recommended dosage and deciding on the amount you’d like to try, use the dropper to add CBD oil to your favorite food or beverage (or directly into your mouth) to feel effects within 30 minutes to an hour. For faster results, drop the oil directly under your tongue. Full-spectrum CBD oil contains the federally legal limit of 0.3% or less THC – this is not enough to get you “high.” We choose to include this tiny amount of THC because when two or more cannabinoids (such as CBD and THC) work together alongside other hemp plant compounds, they increase each other’s efficacy. This enhanced consumer experience is known as the “entourage effect.”

Vegan CBD Capsules

Our vegan CBD capsules are only filled with two ingredients: CBD isolate (the purest form of CBD) and coconut powder (a natural superfood). CBD isolate is cannabidiol that has gone through a process to remove all other components found in the cannabis plant. While this eliminates the “entourage effect,” isolate provides an option for those who wish to avoid THC altogether and is the purest CBD on the market.

We offer a variety of 30 count bottles for low to high doses of CBD. You can purchase 10 mg capsules (300 mg per bottle), 25 mg capsules (750 mg per bottle), 50 mg capsules (1,500 mg per bottle), and 100 mg capsules (3,000 mg total). Capsules are a conveniently pre-portioned CBD dosage option. We recommend using our CBD dosage calculator to find your recommended dosage range and start at the low end.

Vegan CBD Edibles

CBD edibles are a deliciously sweet, inconspicuous way to take CBD. We offer both CBD gummies and CBD honey sticks as edible options. In addition to their high potency, our gummies are vegan, natural, and 100% organic. Available in the same dosage increments as the CBD capsules, we infuse these gummies with full-spectrum CBD oil (meaning they do contain 0.3% or less THC – not enough to get you high).

We love CBD gummies for many reasons, but one advantage is that they can be divided if one whole gummy is too high of a dose. If you buy the 3000 mg bottle but then find out 100 mg of CBD per gummy is too much, cut them in two and only take one half for a milder experience.

CBD Hemp Flower

Our CBD hemp flower is sourced from organic hemp farms in Colorado and tested by third-party labs before we package and market it. We offer a wide variety of strains that may provide different flavors, aromas, and effects.

Dosing CBD flower is much different than dosing CBD oils, capsules, or edibles. CBD hemp flower is measured in grams, and the amount of CBD in any given flower is measured in a percentage. For example, our Northern Lights strain contains ≈ 20.73% CBD, while our Grape Soda strain has ≈ 15.33% CBD. A neat thing about inhaling CBD flower is you will feel the effects almost instantly. Rather than having to use a CBD dosage calculator, you can pack a small amount of flower into your preferred apparatus and take it one inhale at a time. If one puff doesn’t make you feel anything after about 90 seconds, try taking another. Keep repeating this process until you feel your desired effects. Also, be sure to note the total number of puffs. This way, next time you have a session you will have a good idea of how many puffs to take from that particular strain.

Some of the most popular methods of inhaling CBD flower are:

  • Pipes – These are essentially the same as tobacco pipes and are typically made of glass. A mouthpiece extends out to a bowl where the CBD flower is placed. Often times, a “carb” (a small hole) is placed near the bowl to help regulate airflow.
  • Bongs – Usually crafted from glass, bongs feature a large water chamber on the bottom, an extended mouthpiece, and a removable bowl piece for the CBD flower. The removable bowl helps with airflow, much like a carb does for a pipe. Bongs offer a smoother experience than pipes (due to the water filtering the smoke), and also offer bigger hits.
  • Bubblers – These are a cross between pipes and bongs. It combines the convenience and size of a pipe with the water chamber of a bong. Bubblers can also be used without water, making them a traditional pipe.
  • Dry Herb Vaporizers – These chargeable vaporizers work by heating ground CBD flower in an internal chamber – a process that converts the cannabinoids and terpenes into vapor rather than smoke.

If you’re interested in trying CBD flower, our 4-gram jars are a terrific way to indulge without committing to a huge amount of product. Unlike a pre-roll (which comes with a designated amount of flower wrapped inside), jars of CBD hemp flower give you the freedom to decide how much you want to smoke and how you want to inhale it.

CBD Vape Pen

CBD vape pens are a fast-acting, highly concentrated form of inhaling CBD. We supply both the rechargeable battery and the vape cartridges for your experience. CBD cartridges are a cost-effective and time-efficient way to enjoy the benefits of CBD.

Just like inhaling CBD flower, you can feel the effects of inhaling a vape pen almost instantaneously. Formulated with highly concentrated organic broad spectrum CBD and natural terpenes, our vapes are the best on the market! Broad-spectrum CBD is similar to full spectrum CBD, but it has gone through a process to remove all THC while leaving the other cannabinoids in place. Like full spectrum, but perhaps not as strong, broad spectrum will also yield a potent “entourage effect.” Because of the nature of consumption with a vape pen, it’s challenging to dose yourself accurately. If you’re new to CBD vaping, we recommend starting with one small puff. It may sound like a minuscule amount, but just like all the other forms of CBD, you can always use more if need be. Our prefilled vape cartridges come in two sizes. The 200mg CBD cartridge provides around 200 puffs which roughly equals 1mg of CBD per puff. Our 400mg CBD prefilled cart provides around 400 puffs which also equates to about 1mg of CBD per inhale.

CBD Isolate

As we briefly mentioned when we talked about our CBD capsules, CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD. There is 1,000 mg of CBD per every one gram of isolate. You’re only going to need a small amount of this product to feel the effects.

CBD isolate is incredibly potent and versatile—it can be eaten, vaporized, or dissolved depending on your preferences. Compared to the pre-portioned capsules, isolate allows you to dose out as much as you’d like, but this also makes it more challenging to know exactly how much you’re consuming. For accurate dosing, it’s recommended that you invest in a digital scale. Isolate’s lack of THC makes it a popular option among people who avoid THC for reasons like drug testing at work. Although THC levels in our full-spectrum products are not enough to get you high, there is some risk that it may show up in bloodwork.

CBD Topicals

Unlike ingestible forms of CBD (inhaling, eating, etc.) that take effect by circulating through the bloodstream, CBD topicals are designed to target the specific area where they were applied.

There isn’t really a “dosage” for CBD topicals – you use as much as you feel is needed at the time. Topical CBD products interact with cannabinoid receptors on your skin. The soothing effects of these products are localized to the areas you apply them to, meaning you won’t feel them in your whole body. The most popular topical CBD product we carry is our CBD pain salves that can provide relief. Made with a range of essential oils and packed with 500mg or 1000mg of CBD per jar, this salve is meant for targeted relief of tension or discomfort. A small amount should help with mild aches, but it can also be used liberally without worry. In addition to our CBD body lotions and salve, we make CBD bath bombs and hand sanitizers. There really is a form of CBD for everybody.

CBD Wax

CBD wax is a highly-concentrated form of CBD that can be vaporized or smoked. It’s so concentrated, in fact, that you only need an amount approximately the size of the tip of a ball-point pen (give or take).

This may seem too small an amount of CBD to do anything, but trust us when we say it’s all you need. Use a “dab tool” or paperclip to scoop a little drop of CBD wax and place it on top of your CBD hemp flower, into a wax-approved vaporizer, or in a “dab rig” (a special kind of smoking apparatus specifically made for inhaling wax/concentrates). Like the other forms of inhaling CBD, you can expect to feel strong, almost immediate effects from inhaling CBD wax.

CBD Pre-Rolls

Our CBD pre-rolls are available in five packs of any of our amazing hemp flower strains. Each strain contains a different percentage of CBD, so you can shop through and find the level that works for you.

Just like any other form of inhaling CBD, you will feel the effects of a pre-roll almost instantly. Light the end of the pre-roll as evenly as you can while inhaling from the filtered end, then wait a few seconds to see if you feel anything. Continue puffing and breaking until you feel the beneficial effects of CBD begin to kick in. You can extinguish and re-light a pre-roll later if you don’t want to smoke it all at once.

The important takeaway here is that CBD dosage is different for every product, every person, every time. Using a CBD dosage calculator and starting at the low end of your dosage range is the best way to introduce yourself to a new CBD product and ensure you’ll experience its benefits. If one form of CBD doesn’t produce your desired effects, there are so many other forms you can try. Whether you prefer good old CBD hemp flower, sweet (vegan) CBD gummies, or a soothing topical CBD salve, we’ve got you covered! While you’re at it, check out this CBD dosing chart for dogs and cats!
