What is CBG Flower?

CBG stands for Cannabigerol. It is a natural cannabinoid like CBD and THC that is only produced in cannabis plants. Typically, CBG is known as a “minor cannabinoid” because the plant normally produces small amounts of it (1% or lower). But now, with selective breeding, growers can generate strains with high CBG content, upwards of 20%! This makes CBG the dominant cannabinoid in this type of flower.

Although cannabigerol is the dominant cannabinoid, these flowers will also naturally contain other cannabinoids like CBD, THC, CBC, CBN, and more. Other cannabinoids present can intensify the effects of CBG when taken in combination with each other. This combination results in the “synergistic effects” of cannabinoids. Additionally, CBD flowers will have natural terpenes and flavonoids, which may add to the synergistic effect.

What’s the Difference: CBG vs CBD

Most people are familiar with the cannabinoids CBD and THC. So what separates CBG from other cannabinoids? First of all, CBD and CBG, at the molecular level, have entirely different chemical structures.

CBG is usually produced early in the plant’s lifecycle. Then it converts into one of three known cannabinoids (CBD, THC, and CBC) later in the lifecycle through UV exposure or heat. In a way, cannabigerol is the “parent cannabinoid” to these other cannabinoids. Luckily, farmers can now yield high CBG strains with modern grow tactics before it converts to another cannabinoid.

As you can imagine, CBD and CBG share many qualities that overlap, such as calming and relaxing effects, which makes them similar. Although many people claim CBG offers more energetic effects than CBD, perhaps making it a better daytime option. Like CBD, CBG will not get you high. However, it may offer some qualities CBD doesn’t, like reducing optical discomfort or antibacterial properties.

Why do People Use CBG Flower?

Manufacturers can process CBG flowers to make highly concentrated oil. They can then use this oil to create CBG rich products like tinctures, capsules, or edibles. However, many people prefer smoking CBG flowers to gain the plant’s natural benefits.

CBG offers many of the same benefits as CBD and THC without getting you “high.” If you research hemp cannabinoids, you will find they have many potential benefits. Here are some of the reasons why people prefer to smoke this particular flower.

Cannabinoid Rich Delivery:

Smoking this flower is a great way to deliver CBG and other cannabinoids to your endocannabinoid system.

Instant Relief:

Inhaling this phytocannabinoid is the quickest way to enjoy its benefits.

Synergistic Effects:

Smoking this flower combines CBG and other cannabinoids plus terpenes and flavonoids to create superior synergistic effects.

Heat Activates Phytocannabinoids:

When you smoke hemp flower the heat can activate phytocannabinoids by a process known as decarboxylation.

May Help Curb Nicotine Dependencies:

Some cigarette smokers claim that smoking CBG flower seems to reduce their nicotine cravings.

Smoking can be Social:

Some people feel smoking flower can be more socially enjoyable than using other cannabinoid applications.

Cost-Effective:

CBG applications can be expensive to produce because it is a “minor cannabinoid” in most cannabis strains. Smoking CBG flower may be the most cost-effective way to intake this cannabinoid.

How do You Use CBG Flower?

You can use these flowers to make your own CBG applications. You can find plenty of recipes online for DIY CBD applications (like tinctures, edibles, concentrates, and more) that use cannabis flowers. Anyone can use these recipes to make CBG items instead of CBD because these cannabinoids act the same for recipe purposes.

Although many people agree that it’s easier to smoke the flower for its cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. You can enjoy smoking flower using the following devices:

Rolling Papers:

You can break up some CBG flower and roll it in a rolling paper. This is not a joint (as joints are full of marijuana, and they get you high).

Pipes:

Using a pipe is probably the easiest way to smoke CBG flower. Just load up the pipe, light it up with some flame and inhale the smoke. The effects should kick in almost instantly.

Water pipes:

Also known as a bong or bubbler. These are like regular pipes with an added section for water. The water acts as a filter for the smoke, thus providing a smoother hit.

Flower vaporizers:

These are different than e-juice vaporizers. You can use a flower vaporizer to heat the flower, causing the cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids to vaporize as you inhale them. These vapors are less harsh than traditional smoking methods, and they can preserve the flavor better.

Is it Legal?

According to the 2018 farm bill, any cannabis flower containing 0.3% THC or less is considered hemp. Furthermore, the bill removes hemp and its byproducts from the controlled substance list. Therefore as long as the CBG flower contains 0.3% THC or less, it is a legal commodity throughout the USA.

Is it safe?

Evidence is limited concerning the health effects of smoking on this flower. If you are thinking of trying it, you may want to consult with your doctor. Ultimately, smoking CBG flower is a possible option for any adult who wishes to consume this cannabinoid. As for Cannabigerol itself, there have never been any incidences of overdosing reported, and it will not cause intoxication.

It doesn’t really get better than this. Over 20% cbg? I’m not sure you’ll find that many other places, if at all. Mostly earthy smell but less so compared to most other cbg/cbd strains. Smooth to smoke. Very frosty to the point you don’t feel the need to doubt the cbg percentage.

Cbg doesn’t exactly make you feel high bit it makes you feel someway, more so than cbd does. Would recommend.

I first tried CBG from another company (it was expensive) loved how it made me feel but couldn’t afford it. So I gave CheefBotanicals CBG a try cause I loved their other flowers. It was on point! It hits me every time like I need it to. Gave me this all round good mental and physical State that CBD doesn’t offer me in the same way. Perfect any time of the day. It’s a good flavor. Smooth. I was impressed with the quality.

First time trying cheef botanicals hemp flower, so I’m excited to leave a review. CBG flower came in nice packaging, and fast shipping. I was amazed at the smell of the CBG flower, very pine and woody. This flower is dry to be expected, but that’s how CBG flower is in general. I have a desktop vaporizer that I set to 365F, and it vapes really well. The effects of the CBG flower are amazing, but very different from CBD. Overall this CBG is a 5/5. Very hard to find CBG flower, yet alone stuff this fire. You won’t be disappointed. Will be buying more cheef botanicals flower in the future. Thanks guys!
